The breads—week one

A full week has gone by since Toast’s kittens were born! Let’s see how they’re doing.

Focaccia: born at 122g. Now 200g.

Rye: born at 99g. Now 180g.

Roti: born at 137g. Now 229g.

Bing,: born at 138g. Now 248g.

Pumpernickel: born at 114g. Now 214g.

Awards

Chunkiest goes to Bing, for gaining 110g this week!

Problem child goes to Focaccia, for trying to run away from her family on multiple occasions.

Overachiever goes to Roti, for being the first to fully open his eyes, the loudest to scream, and for overtaking chunky Bing in weight for about three hours.

Most personality goes to Pumpernickel, for having so much spunk that I have no good photos of her.

Milestones

Day 4: Rye and Pumpernickel lost their umbilical cords. Focaccia began opening her eyes.

Day 5: Focaccia lost her umbilical cord. Roti and Bing reached 200g. Rye reached 150g. All kittens above 150!

Day 6: Roti began opening his eyes and was cutely winking for the whole day. Pumpernickel reached 200g.

Day 7: Focaccia reached 200g. Pumpernickel and Rye started opening their eyes. Bing lost his umbilical cord.

Toast update

Toast is doing great! It took her a few days to adjust to motherhood, so we helped with stimulating and keeping her company every two hours to encourage her to nurse her babies. She's incredibly affectionate and loves people, to the point where she often hisses and bites us when we try to leave the room—any tips for mama cats with separation aggression? She's a total sweetheart 99% of the time and only turns on us when we try to leave.

Current focus: socializing her to accept nail trims and getting her used to brushing. Both are going well!
