Kittens are born!

Today around noon, Toast gave birth to five healthy kittens. The process was smooth and easy, and Toast is doing well. We’ve decided to go with a bread naming theme, which our vets love! Please meet, in order of birth:

  1. Focaccia, grey mackerel female. 122g at birth.

  2. Rye, forehead dot tortie female. 99g at birth.

  3. Roti, solid black male. 137g at birth.

  4. Bing, orange mackerel male. 138g at birth.

  5. Pumpernickel, orange blaze tortie female. 114g at birth.

We have a good mix of sexes and coat colours in this litter (yay for easily distinguishable kittens!), but more importantly all are spirited and great eaters. We’ll be keeping an eye on little runt Rye as she grows, but the difference isn’t enough to be concerning.

Notable personalities so far: Bing is super-sweet. Pumpernickel is a menace who screams, struggles, and squeals like she’s being tortured.

Toast’s foster/adoption page is now live here. She’ll likely be heading out for adoption with her kittens mid- to late-May, but she may be good to go earlier depending on how her babies do and how much Toast enjoys (or doesn’t enjoy) motherhood. Applications are open, but I won’t be promoting her as much until her kittens are weaned. Easier to do photoshoots and get to know a cat when they don’t have five little lives relying on them!

Can’t wait to see these little breads grow. Send lots of love and yeast to our gluten-filled gluttons.
