Five weeks old!
This week was eventful with weaning (super fun, super cute, super messy) and litter training (super not fun, stinky wet baby poos everywhere). All the kittens are eating wet food now! Pumpernickel still needs extra attention to take a nibble, but she gobbles up tube treats to no end. Focaccia and Rye are proving to be the best at eating solids, which is unexpected because they needed so much one-on-one time to drink enough milk. We look forward to seeing them gain plenty of weight.
Weight updates:
Focaccia: 368g at 28 days. Now 482g.
Rye: 362g at 28 days. Now 450g.
Roti: 458g at 28 days. Now 580g.
Bing: 476g at 28 days. Now 607g.
Pumpernickel: 424g at 28 days. Now 502.
Weekly awards:
Chunkiest goes to Bing, for gaining 131g this week. Wow!
Best eaters go to Focaccia and Rye—they’re gobbling up wet food like it’s the best thing on earth!
Stinkiest go to Bing and Rye. Why are they perpetually stinky? Why is there always poo in their claws? Why do they keep peeing on the floor? Please stop stepping in poo, our wet wipe supply is dwindling.
Free-spirited award goes to Pumpernickel for doing everything on her own time. Peeing on pooping on her own? Nah, not yet. Eating solids? She prefers milk. Instead, her time has gone towards learning to climb to the top of kitty climbers, far out of reach of her siblings.
Toast:
A big week for Toast! We picked up some “Special Mama Tubes” (Tiki Cat Baby Thrive) for Toast to help her bulk up. She loves them and gets one every time her babies get tube treats. It’s only been a few days, but we can already feel her getting heftier. We hope to get a larger scale soon so we can track her with numbers instead of just body condition and vibes.
Her hot girl walks continue, and with a new development: Toast has now met residents Salem Snow and Jasper James. Salem couldn’t care less, but Jasper has a history of being cat reactive. We’ve been helping him through it and he’s made huge progress. She’s now had three short, supervised hot girl walks with the boys out, and everyone is communicating wonderfully and respecting boundaries. If anything, Toast is more hissy than Jasper!
Group photo time—and with toys! The breads are becoming more alert and playful each day.
